Big Brother Is Watching!

Your privacy is being invaded. What you are doing on your computer is being watched right now. There are companies that know you are looking at this page. They know what you typed to your family, friends and co-workers. They know what you are emailing to people. Hackers are watching to capture your credit card numbers, passwords, and other personal information.

Is your employer, spouse, significant other or an unknown criminal spying on you? It's simple for these people to install spyware on your computer and invade your privacy. It can be installed remotely without your knowledge and then periodically send your private information by email to the owner of the spyware.

The online world is no longer safe!

The Computer Security Institute/FBI Survey stated that seventy-eight percent of companies polled reported that they detected employee abuse of their Internet access privileges.
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention published by the following survey regarding young Internet users:
  • 24 million children use the Internet weekly
  • 6 million kids received sexually explicit material
  • 5 million children were sexually solicited
  • More than 1.4 million were harassed
    (Based on extrapolated data results)
What are you going to do to ensure that your child is not targeted?

What is Spy Software or Spyware?

Spy Software, commonly referred to as "Spyware", is any software application that was designed to secretly collect information from a user.

Spyware can use any technology that aids in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge. On the Internet, Spyware is programming that is put in someone's computer to secretly gather information about the user and relay it to advertisers or other interested parties.

Spyware can get in a computer as a software virus or as the result of installing a new program. Data collecting programs that are installed with the user's knowledge are not, properly speaking, spyware, if the user fully understands what data is being collected and with whom it is being shared. Some Spyware applications have limited abilities, but some pose a serious privacy concern.

Spyware is becoming more sophisticated in today's digital age. Some of these applications have the ability to be remotely installed without the need of physical access to your computer. Others have the ability to monitor your chat transcripts, email usage, and internet connection in a complete stealth environment. There are many other powerful features these spyware applications offer. To name a few: Remote Access, Critical System Information, Remote Desktop Viewing, Webcam Capturing, Keystroke Logging, Application Usage etc.

What is Adware?

Adware is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. The justification for adware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user.

Adware has been criticized for occasionally including code that tracks a user's personal information and passes it on to third parties, without the user's authorization or knowledge. This practice has been dubbed spyware and has prompted an outcry from computer security and privacy advocates, including the Electronic Privacy Information Center.
